Q: Who would be the last one standing in a straight fight between a Dalek, Sontaran and a Cyberman The Brain. A: Who would be the last ‘man’ standing in a straight fight between a Dalek, Cyberman and a Sontaran? Are you serious? Three of the Doctor’s deadliest enemies in a winner take all contest. Ok, the Brain will answer it like this. The question specifically refers to these creatures in the singular; a Dalek, a Cyberman and a Sontaran. So we are not talking here of a Dalek taskforce against a Cyber-fleet or the billions of clones that make up the Sontaran host. This is one-on-one. A straight match-up. The Brain will begin by examining the possibilities of a chance encounter between a Sontaran and a Cyberman. Whatever the outcome, this would be the fight of the millennia. Sontarans are skilled in the art of hand-to-hand combat and their physical make-up lends itself to this particular skill; they are short, squat, and very powerful. But the Cybermen can also mix it when necessary. They too are immensely strong and are rumoured to have the strength of ten men. So you can bet your life this would be no stand-up boxing match; this would be a brawl, a street fight and a slug-fest all rolled into one. And the outcome? Well, if it did come down to a bear-knuckles fist-fight then there could only really be one outcome. Cybermen never tire whereas a Sontaran needs to replenish its energy levels periodically; so eventually the Cyberman would wear the Sontaran down before launching a devastating attack on its probic vent. But what if both Sontaran and Cyberman were tooled up and ready to go - as would be the more likely scenario. The Sontaran’s military training and knowledge of battleground tactics would give it a huge advantage over the Cyberman’s bull-in-a-china-shop mentality. But then could the Sontaran’s hand-held energy weapon take-out the Cyberman; well no, not conclusively. However, it would certainly cause enough damage for the Sontaran to move in and finish the Cyberman off at close quarters. Now enter the Dalek. Slowly it closes in its gun-stick primed and ready to go... Surely, this is the end for the Sontaran. Fat chance! The Sontaran is just warming up. Never underestimate these fearless warriors... Any encounter would be on the Sontarans' terms; his superior knowledge of military tactics would allow him to choose favourable conditions for his assault. Dalek mentality would mean it could not back down and this would play right into the Sontaran’s hands. The Dalek’s lack of manoeuvrability would surely result in the Sontaran choosing ground that hampered movement and restricted vision. The Sontaran therefore decides to adopt guerrilla tactics. Slowly his plans take shape. He will lay an ambush to trap and kill the Dalek. The challenge is accepted and the contest begins. Now the Dalek finds itself in unfamiliar territory. With its vision and movement restricted it can only be a matter of time…Then, out of nowhere, the Sontaran appears and launches a full frontal assault - from behind. Clever. The Dalek is unable to utilize its overwhelming advantage in firepower. Gripping hold of its outer casing, the Sontaran effortlessly lifts the Dalek off the ground, lays open the covers and puts the Dalek to bed. Nuff said! |

Liam Edwards. Christleton, Chester, U.K. Q: Who is this Davros guy. He sounds like a well cool character. You say he created the Daleks; tell me more, i'd like to know. The Brain. A: Davros is a scientist from the planet Skaro whose people, the Kaleds, were engaged in a bitter thousand-year war of attrition with their enemies, the Thals. Realising that contamination from the nuclear and biological weapons used in the war was mutating the Kaled race, Davros artificially accelerated the process in order to establish their final mutational form. The mutations were weak and crippled. His solution was to remove all their emotions and encase them in tank-like 'travel machines'. He named these creatures Daleks... |
